Green Lantern Party Supplies are based on Green Lantern, a 2011 superhero movie that is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The movie was directed by Martin Campbell. The movie was released in 3D on June 17, 2011.

The plot of the film is based on the earlier Green Lantern comics. The story started millions of years before our Earth was formed. There was a group of beings known as the Guardians of the Universe. They created Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force, using the green essence of willpower. Then they split the universe into 3,600 sectors and appointed one Green Lantern per sector. Abin Sur was one such Green Lantern of Sector 2814. He defeated Parallax, the fear-essence being, and imprisoned him on the ruined planet Ryut in the Lost Sector.

In the present day, Parallax escapes from the prison. After six months, Parallax destroys two planets and kills four Green Lanterns. Then he attacks Sector 2814 and wounds Abin Sur mortally. But Abin Sur somehow escapes and crash-lands on Earth. He then orders his ring to search for a worthy successor on the planet.

Hal Jordan is a Ferris Aircraft test pilot. The ring chooses him and transports him to the crash site. Abin Sur appoints him as a Green Lantern. He instructs him to take the lantern and say the oath. Under the glow of the lantern he speaks the oath of the Green Lanterns. Some people attack him while he is leaving a bar. When he tries to punch one of them, a huge fist of green energy is formed. Later, Jordan is taken to the Green Lantern Corps home planet of Oa. There he is trained with Tomar-Re and Kilowog. He also meets Corps leader Sinestro, who is not happy with the fact that a human has been made a Green Lantern. When Jordan comes to know about his thinking, he quits and returns to Earth. But he keeps the lantern and the power ring.

Hector Hammond is a scientist. His father, Robert Hammond, is a Senator. His father calls him to a secret government facility to perform an autopsy on Abin Sur's body. From the corpse, a piece of Parallax inserts itself in the body of Hammond. The Parallax gives him telepathy and telekinetic powers, but at the cost of his sanity. Hammond comes to know that he was selected due to his father's influence. He telekinetically sabotages his father's helicopter to kill him. But Jordan saves the senator and other guests with his ring. Later, Hammond kills his father by burning him alive. Jordan encounters Hammond and both realize that Parallax is on his way to arrive on the Earth.

On Oa, the Guardians reveal the secret to Sinestro that Parallax was once one of their own. But he wanted to control the yellow essence of fear, but by doing so, he become the embodiment of fear itself. Sinestro believes that the only way to fight fear is by fear itself. So, he asks the Guardians to construct a ring of the same yellow power. His plan is to destroy Parallax along with Earth so that Oa can be protected. But Jordan reaches there and requests Sinestro not to use the yellow ring. He also demands help of the Corps to fight with Parallax. They say no to his request, but allow him to return to Earth and save his home planet.

Jordan returns to the Earth. Hammond injects Parallax's essence into Ferris but Jordan saves him. Parallax arrives and consumes Hector's life force as he failed to kill Jordan. Then, he wreaks havoc on Coast City. Jordan lures Parallax towards the Sun. The Sun's gravity pulls and disintegrates the entity of Parallax. Jordan loses consciousness after the fight, but Sinestro, Kilowog, and Tomar-Re save him. The Green Lantern Corps congratulates him for his bravery. Sinestro gives Jordan the responsibility of protecting his sector as a Green Lantern.

In the film, Ryan Reynolds is cast as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond, Mark Strong as Thaal Sinestro, Angela Bassett as Dr. Amanda Waller, Tim Robbins as Robert Hammond, Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur, and Taika Waititi as Thomas Kalmaku.
