Disney Cars 2 Party Supplies are based on Cars 2, a 2011 American computer-animated action movie. The film is the sequel to the 2006 film and is produced by Pixar. Cars 2 is written by Ben Queen, produced by Denise Ream, directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis.

Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, Cars 2 was released in the United States on June 24, 2011. The film was released in various formats, including Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, as well as two-dimensional and IMAX formats.

The plot of Disney Cars 2 is quite interesting. Lightning McQueen, four-time Piston Cup champion race car, returns home to Radiator Springs. There he reunites with girlfriend Sally Carrera and best friend Mater.

Miles Axlerod, former oil tycoon, is now a green power advocate. To promote Allinol biofuel, he announces a racing series called the "World Grand Prix". McQueen initially refuses to participate but due to Mater's intervention and Italian formula race car Francesco Bernoulli's challenge, he finally agrees to enter the Grand Prix. Sally makes McQueen take Mater with him. But in Japan, his jovially ignorant antics embarrass him repeatedly.

Meanwhile, an unknown mastermind and a group of "lemon" cars led by Professor Zündapp own the largest untapped oil reserves in the world. They secretly plot to ignite the Allinol fuel in targeted race cars during the World Grand Prix using a weapon disguised as a television camera. As there would be no apparent cause for the explosions, people will doubt the fuel's safety. The public would depend further on the group's oil and their oil profits would be secure.

Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell are British spies. They are trying to foil their plot through American spy car Rod "Torque" Redline in order to receive information about the mastermind. But Redline is cornered by Zündapp's goons and passes his information to an unsuspecting Mater. Redline is captured and subsequently killed. McMissile and Shiftwell mistake Mater as their American contact.

During the first race, Holley and McMissile help Mater evade Zündapp's henchmen. But in the process, Mater inadvertently gives McQueen wrong advice and he loses the race. Meanwhile, Zündapp blasts several race cars. Due to Mater's embarrassing behavior and his loss, McQueen loses his patience and berates Mater. Mater decides to go back to Radiator Springs, but McMissile drafts him into foiling Zündapp's plot because he still believes that Mater is an American spy.

The second race has to take place in Italy. There, Mater infiltrates the criminals' meeting and comes to know about Zündapp's plan. Meanwhile, Zündapp's henchmen blast most of the cars during the race. Allinol fuel falls under suspicion and Axlerod suspends its use for the final race in England. But McQueen decides to continue using it.

The criminals plan to kill McQueen in the next race. When Mater hears this, he cannot control himself and blows his cover. Mater, McMissile and Shiftwell are captured. Mater dreams about his recent activities and realizes how foolish he has been. During the race, the criminals try to use the weapon on McQueen, but nothing happens.

Mater escapes and races to warn McQueen about the bomb planted in his pit area. Meanwhile, McMissile and Shiftwell come to know that the bomb was actually planted on Mater himself.

They warn Mater about the bomb and he races away to protect his friends. But McMissile is now repentant and determined to make amends to Mater and so he follows Mater. They race very fast and soon they are out of range of Zündapp's remote detonator.

Zündapp sends his henchmen to kill McQueen and Mater, but McMissile, Shiftwell, and the Radiator Springs residents foil them and capture Zündapp. Then Zündapp reveals another person was the mastermind and Mater figures out that he is Miles Axlerod. They force Axlerod to deactivate the bomb.

Mater is knighted by the Queen for having Axlerod arrested. They return home and there all the cars from the Grand Prix take part in the unofficial Radiator Springs Grand Prix. Later, Fillmore reveals that before the last race began, Lightning's Allinol had been replaced with his organic fuel and hence Lightning was not affected by the weapon.

Later, McMissile and Shiftwell invite Mater to join them in another spy mission. But Mater declines and says that he is where he belongs.
