Candy Land Party Supplies
Candy Land Party Supplies is one of
the most popular kids' birthday party themes of all times. So, if you were searching for
Candy Land Party Supplies you've
landed on the right page.
Candy Land Party Supplies are based on the
Candy Land racing board game. It is one of the simplest board game and requires least counting skills and no
reading at all. It is often one of the first board game played by children in America.
Candyland is a racing game and the game has a
story in it. The king of Candy Land is lost and the players have to find them. The board of the game is made of a
winding and linear track. It is made of 134 spaces. Most of the spaces are red, green, blue, yellow, orange or
violet. There are some locations on the board like Candy Cane Forest and Gum Drop Mountain and these spaces are
pink. There are some characters as well like Queen Frostine and Gramma Nutt and these spaces are pink
too.
The players pick up the top card from a stack
of the game cards. If the card shows any of the six colors, they have to move their marker to the next space of
that color. If the card displays two marks of a color, the marker is to be moved to the second-next space of that
color. If the player draws a card that displays a location name, the lucky player moves his marker directly to that
particular location. The player, who lands on or passes the final square, wins the game.
In the classic game, the location card can
move the player forward or backward, depending on the location of the player's marker and the location of which the
card has been drawn. But in the 2004 version of the game, young kids can ignore the backward
moves.
In the earlier version there were three
colored squares with a dot. A player who would land on such square would have to ignore all his drawn cards until
he would draw a card of the same color of the square he had been stuck onto. But in the 2004 version, there are
licorice squares instead of dotted squares. And if a player lands on it, he loses his next turn.
If a player lands on a piece of gum, he has to
go back to the start.
Although according to the official rule of the
game the player who passes beyond the final square wins the game, but some players play the game in such manner
that a player wins only if he lands exactly on the last square. The 2004 version has ended the confusion about how
a player wins the game by changing the color of the final square from violet to a rainbow spectrum. So, any color
drawn by the player is present in the rainbow.
The earlier version (prior to the 2004
version) takes longer to complete the game as the players get stuck to the dot squares and have to ignore several
draws without moving. Also, due to the location cards, the players have to move backwards.
Candyland game was designed by Eleanor Abbott
in 1945. When she was in San Diego, California, recovering from polio, she got the idea for this game. She later
sold the game to Milton Bradley Company (it is now owned by Hasbro). The company published the game in 1949. The
company had produced many versions of the game. The company has been marketing Candy Land puzzles, a travel
version, a PC game, and a handheld electronic version as well.
In December 2005, Forbes magazine placed Candy
Land game at #1 in the list of the most popular American toys for the 1940-1949 decade.
You may select Basic Party Pack from our Candy
Land Birthday Party Supplies which includes all the stuff you need for 8 guests. Or you may go with the Deluxe
Party Pack from our Candy Land Kids Party Supplies that has much more items than the Candy Land Basic Pack. The
Candy Land deluxe pack is also for 8 guests. If you need favor boxes as well, I would suggest you to choose the
combination of Deluxe Party Pack & 8 Favor Boxes from our Candy Land Kids Birthday Party Supplies as it would
cost you much more if you purchase them separately. If you think that the number of guests may exceed 8 you should
consider Candy Land Party Pack Add-On as it contains extra items for the extra guests. You may order Candy Land
Party Favor Boxes separately as well.
I've personally used
Candy Land Party Supplies for
my kid's birthday and through my personal experience I would recommend it to all Candy Land lover kids.
If you like playing Candy Land, you’ll love these colorful birthday party packs!
